Kjet Mk2 is one of the best driving cars of its era, bar none.
The digipants downtuned aussie ones are lardy and slow which is where they get this rep from in Oz.
I have owned lots of both and would drive 1000ks in a Mk2 much more readily than in a Mk1.
Best answer really is a Scirocco.![]()

The ONLY way a mk2 can be considered refined is to get out of a 30yr old mk1...
Or an aircooled VW...

Glad that I could have started some spirited debate... I can't argue with the Mk1 guy about race track stuff as the MK 2 is no doubt a little heavier. For my thinking though, the MK 2 was the ultimate evolution of the MK1 design, incorporating the best of both worlds, before VW really started piling on the weight with the MK3. I wasn't putting the Mk1 down in any way, as I love them too, it's just a personal thing that's all. Plus they are a bit more unique here in Aus so that gets and extra tick from me also. And yes I still have my MK2 resto for sale. I've just dropped the price too. I think there was even a whiner about price in that last lot of feedback.. There's always one in every crowd. Don't worry about him guys. He's obviously clueless about much. Poor little chappy. Anyway so there it is, The MK2 vs MK1 debate. Mind you I think the 2L twin cam would have been quicker
.... Naaaa just teasing!!

Spyda has a point, you cannot say its the best mk2 in AUS because its not. However it is another mk2 that could be restored. Not for that price though! i would want all the trim, all the panels to be sweet for that price, its my two cents.
