Kjet Mk2 is one of the best driving cars of its era, bar none.
The digipants downtuned aussie ones are lardy and slow which is where they get this rep from in Oz.
I have owned lots of both and would drive 1000ks in a Mk2 much more readily than in a Mk1.
Best answer really is a Scirocco.

The ONLY way a mk2 can be considered refined is to get out of a 30yr old mk1...

yea no I'm pretty sure that would explain it.

mk 1 FTW (as they say)

I prefer them cause of the styling, and regardless they still handle pretty well, for a 30 year old car.

sure a mk 2 may have a better subframe and chassis. I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm planning on building a race car.

When you compare the mk1 to the mk2, you really have to have owned both to be able to even make a comment. And when i say a mk1 i dont mean a cabriolet, an LS GLS or whatever, we are talking like for like comparison...the mk1 gti is an awesome car which was over engineered for its time and still p1sses over alot of cars made after it...

However, having said all that, the mk2 is a superior beast. And when i say mk2, i am talking about the GTI and not the aussie delivered 5 door downtuned ones either. Without a shadow of a doubt best chassis of them all.
