    MK2 GTI 16v Upgrades

    Hey,

I am hoping to boost the power of my GTI in the cheapest and most effective way possible.

Can anyone suggest a few mods that help?

Car is stock, bar an exhaust system and bigger airfilter.

    first of all welcome.

secon of all, how much power are you after? a noticeable increase or massive power gains?

Just a noticable increase...nothing to major

Ive got a K&N filter on at the moment and I have been offered a chipped computer for a couple of hundred dollars, but I wondering if there are any other alternatives that are a little cheaper.

Drilled airbox and manifold sound relatively cheap but are they easy to do myself?

Drilled airbox can be done with a holesaw. Pretty damn easy. Velly or someone or similar 16v experience should be able to get you some pics.

The manifold is a straight swap as far as i know, so aslong as you put a new gasket on or don't damage the old one you should be ok.

200 bucks for a computer sounds reasonable.

Remember, dude, unless you can make everything yourself and do ALL the work, you've gotta pay to play.
