MK2 Golf GTI new build up-Clutch/Flywheel question

I´m rebuilding a Golf GTI mk2 @ the moment. I´m putting an ABF 16v engine into it. Before I had a 8v RV engine in my Mk2.
I just want to ask if somebody has done a convertion like this before?

I´m running a CHB manual gearbox ( 5speed), my problem or question is:

on the original 8v RV engine the clutchplate was mounted onto the engine. On the 16V abf engine its the opposite way like usual. everything would fit,mountingpionts are the same,but it is just the opposite way. Another thing what I saw is that the original Flywheel on the 8V Rv engine is 3 times lighter than the original 16v flywheel. Has somebody already done a conversion like I want to do, would that light flywheel from the 8v RV engine giving me hard time with the 16V engine cause of the weightdifference? its probably around 5-6 kg difference, like destroying all my bottom end on the ABF engine? The splines on the clutch and the diameter of the clutch is different as well ( original 24 teeth, smaller diameter, on the ABF engine clutch has 28 splines and bigger diameter? ) What can I do, search for a new gearbox which fit on the ABF engine or do the conversion. Maybe somebody has something like this done before.

Easy peesy questions!

The ABF runs an 02A from factory so the clutch, flywheel and pressure plate are different but you can bolt on the 020 gearbox that you have you just need to use the 020 parts. As for the lighter flywheel if you can afford it you might as well run a lightened 020 flywheel as the less rotating mass = easier for the engine to spin. New clutch and pressure plate is a no brained btw.

If your interested in extractors for the abf i have a set that is of no use to me and should fit the mk2!

Thank you for the answer, do you know where I can order a lightened flywheel ( 020) or a link? Don´t has to be in Australia maybe you prefer somebody who has VW parts, Dont really want to go to the local dealer here their prices are way to expansive. Thx mate.

Give me a price for your extractors peedman, would you have a manifold gasket as well for it?

I buy most of my parts from germanautoparts.com and for performance stuff from 034motorsport.com. Both are pretty good on shipping prices compared to some other shops. Dont forget to get the clutch install kit which includes everything u should replace when doing the clutch!

I do have the exhaust manifold gaskets (almost new) and also the catalytic converter which will make things easier to bolt on. Only after $500, if ur interested just let me know
