Hey guys...
I'm gonna watch this thread with interest, as I have already upgraded my rear calipers to Mk3, however it must be noted that you have to bleed the brakes with the calipers off, as the mk3 are front-mounted on the disc, so the bleed nipple will be upside-down on the mk2.
Now that my rear bias is too strong, I will be looking to upgrade my front brakes as well, probably Mk3 GL, but I'm unsure of the process. I believe aliasmk2 has some experience with brake upgrades, perhaps he would be a good person to talk with?
Cheers!

I've done the 280mm conversion. You need 16v hubs, 16v calipers, G60 caliper carriers and the 280 discs. I had to grind my G60 pads down to fit as obviously you want the wider G60 caliper (expensive/hard to get hold of).
Also once you go to 280 you can only run some 15's and even my 16" borbets have a tiny spacer to clear the bigger brakes.
edited to say does anyone have any brakes pads for the 8v 239 set-up they don't want?
You can bolt hub, disk and calipers on from a Mk3. 2L GL are bigger than Mk2.
You can go 280mm with either VR6 gear, but you will need new disks, or go 5 stud, 0r Harder to get 280mm Rotors from a Cuprasport, 280mm and 4 stud.
Once again, SEAT is the link ;)
im doing a 256mm front and rear from a passat gt (everyone in nz buy them and rape them for parts) and also 22mm master cylinder.just make sure you take the whole carier and rear stub axles
i am going 280 route for the mk1 and a little something special (front)and mk4/3 for the rears

I see a few GT's pop up in trademe for around $700 - $2K. Would be well worth it for parts including the 16v motor. I will keep a look out when Im there during the festive season.
What do you need to adapt to the wilwood setup ? Do they just bolt up ? Do you need again parts from 16v & G60 ?
they bolt up with mmp adapters not cheap but easier and so much lighter than doing it myself
I have a pair of Girling 60 twin piston calipers (280mm) that are going on my car in in the near future
they pop up on ebay motors for the right price, but are darn heavey to ship
they were used on the audi s4 & s6 cars in the early 1990s
It is the same deal to instal as g60 brakes,
use the mk3 hubs, which are the same as the mk2 16vavle & the girling 60 carriers will fit the same as g60 carriers
I think the g60 cars used a girling 54 caliper
I am not to sure that the vr6 calipers are the same offset & therefore require extra vr6 components to work, which can lead to camber probs & so on
I think that without spending large $ on something like willlwood or brembo kit this is a fairly good value package
What do you guys think of this kit ?
