AGU is not drive by wire.
In an A3, likely an AUM engine.

About to buy an Audi A3 2002 for the 1.8t agu engine. Its running which is a good start and is drive by wire.
Anything I should be made aware of before I make this decision? I understand engine mounts, drive shafts will need to be sorted and shifter setup to be redone but anything else, im not aware of yet.
Let me know Cheers

So your saying using an AUM is not ideal for the conversion?
Cheers

Heaps more parts sprayed including knuckles, brake shields, calipers.
Finished the rear wheel arches and had to put a rust converter on the front arch because the battery had leaked so waiting till tomorrow before spraying. Should get a top coat on the whole underside tomorrow.

Bottom side done. Looks awesome!
Rear rack painted, ready for mounting next time.
Gonna be a month or so before next post but should be able to roll it back over and get stuck into body.

Back in action, just did a lot of looking and not much working. Sprayed some stuff including the aluminum exhaust shield (terrible pic but sprayed it with my caliper paint as I don't know how hot it will get) and began putting suspension on. Looks new.
Put the rear axle inserts in for the rear subframe and its now very stiff. Got an extra pair of hands this afternoon and now the car is back down on all fours. Ready for all suspension to go back in and now body cleanup. Panels are the same before the car flipped over so the tyres worked fine.
Still can't find a donor car as everything is falling through but this gives me time to get the body lookin schmick. Would also like to get some good coilovers (bc's or something of that price) as the original ones are absolutely shot.
Otherwise, stoked with the progress so far.
