HI there all,
Just in the process of doing some much needed maintenance on the mk2 gti and I am about to change the throwout bearing/finger etc.
I have removed the end cap and finger + TO bearing and have noticed another weird thing. If you look down the hole where the pushrod comes out (far end from clutch) there is no bearing, there is the star shaped spot where one would fit (one was supplied with kit)
OK - my concerns are
1. Is this bearing just sometimes "not there"
2. If the above is not true - WTF where has it gone
3. Have new one was going to fit anyway.
Also as part of the kit there is a small (about 7mm tall and round) cylindrical bearing looking thing (brass) that I cannot locate it's home so far - it looks similar to the the bearing for end of starter (set in gearbox) but is tooo small for this and is too small to fit over pushrod -any ideas.
THanks again to all that help - this forum rocks when you are trying to do your own work.
Cheers
Courtney.
