    "leopard print seat" Mk2

    howdy all haven't really introduced myself..
    - Golf Mk2 noob
    - sydney
    - mischa's "mate" who's thinking about buying the gti from the salvage auctions
    - want to buy the mk2

    i suppose i'm an enthusiast but i'm still kinda skeptical about buying into a car i haven't driven that's nearly 20 years old.. can i get some encouragement or more so, what should i look out for??

    much appreciated,
    James

    This wouldn't happen to be a grey south african import with hail damage would it be by any chance?

    Get it mate! IT used to belong to our faithful leader who run's a VW shop here in Sydney. He's taking a small break at the moment for a few weeks but it does come with very good recommendations!

    hehe!!! i'm so excited!!

    does anyone round here have a mk2 gti as their daily?? i'm thinking about it, but i have no idea about it's reliability, repair costs, etc..

    it'd be awesome if anyone had any more specs on the car? matt (golf loon) said it had a big valve head and cams, so does that mean it's not stock head??...
    <grin>

    can't wait

    Repair costs are cheap compared to a modern golf, most parts service are available easily. The parts that are harder to come by are panels and trim etc. The big valve head is not stock and makes it go faster cams also make it go better...
    As for a daily driver, It should be fine, just make sure you check oil regularly, coolant regularly and take it to golf loon for a good going over once in a while!
    Good luck and welcome to mk2 ownership!

    its a south african import, they had a bigger valve head stock with a different cam , due to the fact they didnt have to comply to the emissions etc.
