Good to hear, the more mk2's the better. Can't wait to see some pics.
$50- for a powerchip?
mmmmmm....
very tempting,
any idea of the extra performance benefits?
or does it just cure the digi lag?
( i believe I have experienced that a bit)

the chip goes into the ecu unit of course which is in the rain tray in front of the driver seat , here is a link to the guys i got mine off.

you can do it yourself in about 30 minutes tops, they send you documentation on the steps and you only need to make double check when you swap the chips round.
Unfortunatly digi2 isnt like then newer vw ecu's that are nice and chipable this is about as good as you can get for it unless you go standalone.
They claim it at 6hp, how accurate that is i don't know, i mainly noticed throttle response improvement and it revs through better as they have stopped the engine leaning out over 4k. I also have a k&n pod filter on mine which also helps a great deal.

Took the MkII for a nice long drive today.....have to say....is awesome to drive!!!!!
I think I need to get a decent set of tyres on it, the guy who i bought it off put some cheap things on and they screech on the slightest bit of spirited cornering!
Also have a huge list (already) of things to do/fix....but thats half the fun (heart ache) right?

I wouldn't buy a chip for $50 in a million years, put it toward a highflow air filter BMC/K&N type. At least that will do something.
I used to have a dyno and our customers would come in with these internet chips and not one went up in power. All went backwards in power torque and driveability. We usual had to take them out on the same day.
If you want a chip get something form a reputable company in Aus or a recommended VW tuner in the uk like AmD which have had huge experience with tuning Golfs.
Just my 2c worth from 15 years in the industry.
Cheers,
Simon

coming from someone who has one with a k&n pod filter, they work well imo. You're spending $50 and digi2 ecu's arn't tunable by any standards but better fueling through higher revs is good and quicker response times from the chip is also good which cuts out the digilag, thats all most claim to do.
