You can do some awesome stuff with Kjet just look at what tim(Golfworx) has done with his turbo mk1 that thing is awesome. I think having the know how and good parts for the setup is the issue, those carbs will be nuts on the engine setup you have got, will sound the business!!

Great to see your project is still going forward & your slowly ironing out all the bug's. This is the where it starts out as a pain in the arse, but when you get closer to the light at the end of the tunnel, it all becomes worthwhile.
Shame to see your heading away from K-Jet, as there is nothing wrong with it at all if its setup & tuned right, but it is your choice after all.
(I thought I'd reply, due to the posts about how crap the K-Jet is! haha After all, my stock engined volvo/audi K-jet turbo setup on 10psi can stay with a stock VE SS & stay infront of a new G6E Turbo Falcon on 15psi! Also add that I'm still getting 400+km out of roughly 35L! Not bad for a "so called" crummy fuel system! The only set back is a flatspot/stutter at around 12psi. But this has to do with ignition retard, as the fueling is spot on.)

haha. believe it or not, i'm one of the biggest k-jet supporters. just not of mine.
it's difficult because everyone has had their way with my bitch. the loom is old, all the ends are frayed and there's a horrible sound system ungrounding everything.
that coupled with no auxilliary air valve, and the lumpiest 8v i've seen... = horrible streeting.
the thing use to run great with a stock EV though. 7-800km/tank, quickish and idled at 850. now it has a race idle.

I can see what your saying, as I said it is your car after all & you can do what ever you like to it.
But the aux. air valve is only there at warm up. It has a, internal bi-metallic strip that when you start the car cold, it allows aux. air to bypass, increasing rpm throughout warmup & when it get's hot from the ignition power supply, it causes the strip to bend & as such closes off the aux. air supply & brings the idle back to normal ie 1000rpm.
I'm currently running my 8v K-Jet without both an aux. air valve or cold start valve. I run my cold start valves as extra injectors & are triggered by an adjustable pressure switch set to 7psi.
This has no major effect on it, except at cold it idles low & also doesn't effect the cold start either. It fires up first go from stone cold every time.
The only wiring you should be worried about with any K-Jet system is the warm up regulator & the aux. air valve. If these are both faulty, then the mixtures will always be rich due to warm up phase pressures & high idle speed.
The Warm Up reg wiring is normally wired in conjunction with the aux. air valve as they both need a ignition sourced power supply, or as I normally wire them off the fuel pump power supply.
tim, if you were a sydney-sider, i think i'd have a k-jet golf sitting outside your workshop with a glovebox full of money and jb cans.
all of my vacuum lines were old and perished and for a while i ran a toggle switch for the cold start. i really actually want to talk to colin from Techtonics cause he built a very similar motor to mine and raced/daily'd that car.
linkage parts should be here early this week and hopefully, can get stuck right into it.
ideas for cold air? i know there isn't much room behind the trumpets against the firewall, and i've been pondering various induction kits like the pipercross one
seeing as i dont have extractors, it's a bit more difficult to heat wrap an exhaust manifold, and with just a ally heat shield, i'm worried i'll get vapourising issues.
there's something like 270mm from the head to the firewall so clearance is pretty shtty.
fruition is such a bitch.

get some extractors, that will free the engine up a little bit more![]()

Thats easy to say Josh, but they are very hard to get for a Mk2. They are not the same as Mk1 or Mk3 ones. Any tips people have, let us know.
This weeks progress.
Much fettling to get it to fit.
Had to wind down the pressure from the pump, but he kjet pump was still proving too strong.
Now the car is running a Mk3 fuel tank with a CL pump and the pressure is somewhat more manageable.
Tuning this week.

Cool, this is finally getting some more love? Bringing it down to SEDF Jay?
Re: the fuel pumps. (i'm sure you probably know already but anyways) You may find you need a carby specific fuel pump, as EFI fuel pumps tend to pump more pressure than volume, where as the carbs need more volume than pressure. Like the carbs might only need around 5-10psi (I woudln't imagine it'd need anymore than 10) & the EFI pump would be pumping well over that (unless you've got an adjust regulator) You also might find it'll be more reliable and easier to tune with a proper fuel supply from a carby pump.
