Not sure yet Ben. There wont be a big showing of Vics at Nats this year. But if nothing comes up (uni wise) I'd like to come up. Have to see closer to the date.

Also have got a great price for some koni yellow's from ECS, which i'll order soon (pay day)

Looks like I might need another radiator, mine leaking. I think Jon had a spare though.

    Who are ECS?

Sorry but I'm just a country boy and out here ECS means Egg & Cheese Sandwich.

    Cheers

Yeah I will look into Koni Yellows. I don't know if keeping the original springs will not match the new shocks. Buy I imagine putting new springs on will raise the car up considering the original spring have been on there for 20 years and would have sagged.

I saw these though, supposed OEM shock replacements.

I do agree the springs would have sagged a bit, but not significantly enough to really affect the ride height I dont think. I've got Zender springs I think, at a quick guess, they'd be about a 40mm drop. should suit the koni's well I'd imagine.

I'm going the koni's cause I' want the adjustability for when I hit the track. And I've also driven a mk 3 with koni's and I was pretty impressed. On the softest setting it provides a nice 'sporting' ride. Defiantly firmer than stock, (I imagine, having not driven a perfect stock car) but not so much that your nannas denchers fall out. I also found the koni's to be MUCH MUCH cheaper than from ECS than a local distributor. FK's are cheaper, if it comes down to the bottom dollar, and still provide adjustability.

The sachs ones will be OEM, and will make it ride like new. just depends on wether you want to return to factory specs, or improve a bit.

Other news, I recieved my order from GAP today. Looks like I'll have to get a few more parts, and then get stuck into a major service and maintainance!

Also: Do mk 2 GTI's come standard with a rear sway bar??

    EDIT:

a quick look on GAP shows a slightly larger range.

I reckon the 4th and 5th option are probably worth looking at if you want to keep the standard springs.

Yeah we won't be tracking ours so going back to 'like new' would be cool.

It steers really well as is so I imagine back to new would be great.

Yeah they do. Just have a look no?

I know with ours you car get the rear inside wheel off the ground easily enough

replaced half of the gear linkages tonight, (all the ones in the engine bay) and wow what a difference. one of the linkages that's got a rubber/plastic ball on it had completely given up the ghost was completely buggered, but now there's no more sloppyness! it's great.

also installed the autotech short shifter, havn't driven yet, but already the shift feels alot more direct and much crisper than it used to be!

Make sure u carry a 13 mm spanner around if ur using the max setting coz twice I've had the linkages come loose and lost all gears.

It didn't happen on the 30% setting tho.

Cheers pedro. They're a bit stiff on 50%, so I knocked it back to 30%.

Did you ever have trouble getting into 1st?
