On a side note, your user name is Banged up my friend.. But yer importing those vehicles is a waste of time unless you have buyers lined up, and lots of them. As Mischa said people talk the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to dubs in Australia.. Interesting though.

It is such a pity that there are so few A2 Jettas in Australia.
I come from South Africa, and lived in California, where there were literally millions of them.
This model put the Jetta on the map...I have seen a couple of A1 Jettas here,ex South Africa I think.
Not even 1 A2,but I beleive there are a few...

you need to have owned it (personally?) i think for at least a year and then it's possible to bring it in as a personal import. (unrestricted). i hope it's a 2 dr

ok, so let me get this right- I have an '89 golf syncro which ive owned since 2001 and a '86 jetta. I had hoped to import both and from what ive read here I should be ok. Is that correct? This is just the start of me looking more seriously at this, so please forgive me if this topic is well covered elsewhere

the only issue here is that Australian customs only allow 1 personal import per person per year. both of your cars perfectly comply with personal import restrictions, but if you have a wife/child/dog/etc sign a car over to them and have them bring it in as a personal import too..
