OK, now I'm more confused. The number on the head is 051103373 which was used on post 88 KR motors as well as the 6a motor. On the block it has 2.0 and (from memory) 9B or B9 so do I have a 6a, 9a or ACE engine?
Looks like the 16V that I bought to go into my MK2 is an Audi ACE engine, used only in the Audi 80.
All I know about this engine code is it's 2 litre, 103kw at 5900 rpm, 180 Nm at 4500 rpm and the engine was the basis of the Audi Touring Cars. They got over 300hp out of them but used a lot of custom parts.
I think the engine is identical to an ABF except it has a milder intake cam to bring down the revs for max torque. This would make it sit between the 9a and ABF but somewhere else on the web says it's a 6a block.
Anyone know more about this engine? I've been searching the web but info is hard to find.
Thanks
Paul

Hi
6a and 9a are what are known as 'bubble blocks', The same height as the kr motor but with bulges in the crankcase area to accommodate the longer throw crank to get 2L from 1.8L hence the 'bubble'
ACE and Abf are the tall block motors (290 mm Tall with 8mm longer conrods) The ABF is 150 hp and the ACE 140hp as you have said due to the milder cam.
I have a 6a motor in my Audi 80, it has 2.0 stamped on the rear. I will see if I have any pics of the rear of the block and post up so you can compare.
