Mine was banged up during transit, which helped when they did the customs quote. I had 475GBP as the purchase price and the valuation I think was about $3000, less the damage:
    scuffed wheels-repair $1000
    Dent removal-$500
Respray -$1460 (would love to know who they use!!!)

    Tax payable was $37

    Does it have any history?
1 piece doors have better wing mirrors ie: they are useable! PLUS they let the air in when down, unlike the early doors which swirl the wind in th eback seat, and the front seats get bugger all air flow!

So now that im getting closer to sorting it, i want to make sure i've got the steps corrected and at least have and idea for the est. of the pricing for each

So first step. (after paying for the car):

    Import Permit

The Import Permit needs to be obtained from the DoTaRS in Canberra.
    A$50

Vehicles manufactured before 1 January 1989 may be imported without restriction, this means i dont need to have owned it for 12 months

What documentation do i need to go with it?

then ill need to let custom or quarantine know about it.

next i'll need to pay the customs value, how is it worked out?

costs for quarantine, any estimates would help

then blue slip and engineered, registered and driven

Any thing i've missed please feel free to fill in the gaps

Also, i've also realised that it is a g60 which makes it a supercharger, and being a p plate driver means i will pretty much wont be able to drive it for most of the year, unless i can get an exemption.

Is it possible to stop the supercharger for the period of time by taking off the belt to it.

Any help will be much appreciated

Also the car is on the market for 2750 quid, how much should i try and squeeze off and is it worth importing such an expensive car.

Is it better if i look for one under 1000 quid (but are all molested)

I reckon it' would be best to get the best condition car you can properly afford. otherwise you'll end up with another project. parts will also be a bit harder to find (obviously not service parts and stuff)

If you find any in the Oxford area, I can check them out if it helps. I have a freind who does vehicles collections and can deliver to East Sussex as that is where my Aussie '76 was unloaded after clearing customs.

Did you not read my last post? All your answers are on www.karmanshpping.com and on the Dotars website with regards to the import proccess.

You can bypass the charger, i can dig up an old post on another forum for you if you like.

I don't reckon that guy would go alot lower on price, maybe offer him 2500 and keep your fingers crossed!

Also do cops know what a G60 is? Or the RTA for that matter?
Sounds like you are getting close.
If you dont want that G60, I`d have it.
I reckon its better to pay more for a good one and big bumper oak green 2 door is my dream.

Dan, tell the guy that you need a receipt for say-700 squids, to clear customs etc etc and see what he says.

In my Email I sent to you, it should say what is required for dotars, plus a few other things.

Be aware that if you haven't had it for 12 months, it will be a general import, not private import, so you'll need to get an engineers cert and the hassles of blue slip etc etc etc.

This is the stage I'm at now... Fun-but time consuming!

ok, sorry for the confusion, ill try and organise the funds for the sale, whats the best way to transfer money to uk, as he wont accept aussie dollars of course.

Ill try and offer 2500 and see how i go as it will save a couple of hundred dollars at this end.

Do i need it in my name to buy it like in australia with the rta, or can someone buy it on my behalf.

So after that all i need is a receipt and do the VIA, and contact customs

I've sent away for a view quotes on shipping so ill see how i go

    Ok

So the car is pretty much mine, just need to pay for it. He also is letting it go for 2500 including 50 for the trip to west sussex, what a champion.

Whats the best method to transfer money to the uk.

I've been heavily indulged in karman's shipping website, but there is no RORO i can see that they offer. They do have great links for info though and hopefully have brought me up to speed.

So once the sale goes through ill try and organise quotes for shipping

    any recommendations

then i just need a proof of purchase in a receipt, hopefully i can get him to say 700 - 1000 for it. then get a photographic proof of my self and then fill out the VIA form and send it to canberra and hope all goes well.

    Fingers crossed.
