I'd go for it mate!! Golf Loon has container loads of stuff every month iirc, you could save yourself alot of $$ if you were to put your doorcards in with his shipment, it would take longer but i doubt you'd be in that much of a rush. I'm sure he would help you out with engine parts too.
Good find i reckon, sounds like the start of a good project.

maybe throw one of the tassie guys enough for some beers and ask if they'll check it out for you to get a buyers opinion on it. always better than buying totally sight unseen?
-
well i've gotten some advice and the tassie option isn't looking like such a gem.
Firstly the car doesn't run and im not sure its registered which will make shipping costly.
Also to get it running seems costly in itself with no fuelling system as of yet. I'd be happy to pay someone to view it just to get another opinion and whether it is worth the money or maybe i should lower the bid.
Importing may not seem like such a bad idea after all.

man i thought about importing one, but it seems like a bit of logistical nightmare...transport costs, customs etc and not too mention a potential plane ticket to view it....seems like a bit of hard work
we all know there arent many over here, so just bide your time, save up and wait for one to pop up for sale or even throw some offers out there to owners...u never know your luck

I Have Seen benny's 2 door in person, it is very clean considering.
and once the 16v is running it shouldnt be no slouch either
<space for rent>

Yeah, true but from what I've been adviced its very tricky to setup a 16v fuel system unless someone can give a second opinion, and also a non started means shipping wont be much cheaper then importing.
I'd like to try it but id need to research all the figures to see which works out the better value.
