How to remove side mirror covers

Hey people wondering if anyone knows how to remove the side mirror covers.
I'd like to take mine off to get them sprayed white to match the rest of the car.

Narrow roads and wheelie bins usually do the trick.

    (Sorry couldn't resist)

They just unclip with a sharpish screwdriver. They are very attached now and liable to break off tabs.

Did this not long ago to replace a cracked one, problem was mine where electric and the replacement was manual, so had to replace the glass and inner mechanism. I didnt see a way to take the cover off short of breaking something and bending something to a point of no return.

I would just take it out, remove the glass and mechanism and mask up the rest.

Let me know how you go because I would like to do the same.

Yeah, just take them off completely, mask up the glass and paint the rest. They will look really good. I'd do the door handles while im there

Was tempted to do that but I want some black to break up the white also white handles would show grubby hand marks more.

Moral of the story is you probably don't need to pry the mirror off and shatter the glass in one case as I have ($31 from VW Germany later)
as once the glass is off I still can't see a way of separating the cover from the base.

Just mask it up carefully if you want to color code.
