ah, few people here can sort you out with whatever you need.
Ive had no problems at all with my UK Mk2 GTI parts wise.
How easy is it to get part for a MK2 golf GTI over there? Just now I'm in the UK and parents are thinking of moving over there. I'm wanting to take my golf with me (first car want to keep it for that reason)and wanted to know how easy it is to get parts. I'm strugling to find anything on here but i might just be looking in the wrong places.

Parts are available, there are specialists over here but be prepared to find the prices pretty steep. Shipping your car over isn't a cheap exercise either but if you can't manage without the car, then get it on a boat. A few Poms have brought cars over here. I didn't bother because mine was LHD.

If you can buy a part in England, you can buy it in Australia.
We had an official shippment of about 200 8v gti's, so you can get most of the parts from VW Aus, A lot of people bring parts over as well
mk3 is a common car here & there is a good supply of compatable mechanical parts for a mk2
there people like me who keep a few mk2 bits & peices
If you don't bring it over with you will probably regret it & never forecive yourself, like a few other people
So I would recomend that you bring it with you, the nore the better
cheers Ian
Bring your car mate. Especially if it is a 2 door. Very few over here, so will be worth the $$.
Its about $2000 to ship the car here and if you have owned it for a year, its a personal import and you pay no tax on it.
I left a Scirocco Storm in the UK and have always regretted it.

bring it! we need more mk2's!
76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car
76 MkI 3 door "long term" project
Bring it, I heavily regret having left my Golf2 in Europe ! They never die in the first place as they are solid as rocks, so I reckon you won't need that many spare parts.
I wonder though, if so many people are interested in bringing cars, why doesn't anybody try to figure out a better and easier way to bring them over, or even organise a shipping ?? MK2 Golf's are really cheap in Europe right now so you could actually make a lot of money as well.
$5000 or two thousand pound for shipping, taxes and duty.
