Hahahaha!!!! Great stuff. Yellow Peril has made its way onto this forum. I love it. I have been calling it that for years...

I reckon TUV is a guarantee against poor workmanship, and represents serious R&D done by specialists on specific vehicles...... Thats all...
    Euro look 2... Mk2 love!

TUV a German quality system. Agreed it doesn't mean the spring and damper rates will be perfect but look at the number of 'named' brands from Europe that are TUV approved. You can't even fit a different steering wheel in Germany without a TUV approval certificate.

I have some King springs on the front of my MK1 and don't rate them.

I would sooner fit TUV approved stuff over anything I can buy made in Australia. Not to knock Australian made stuff but how many MK1/2/3/4/5 Golfs have they tested their gear on???

    I agree.

I wouldn't buy any Aussie sway bars or springs for a Golf.

I wouldn't buy an aussie ARB either, haven't heard much about king springs other than they're affordable.... Just suggesting affordable options.

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with factory springs and struts on a Mk2 GTI. Its not by spending lots of money you'll get a better handling car than one with the standard factory spec. Most people modify to lower the ride height buts that's only cosmetic and introduces problems not present in the standard car.

If you stay factory you won't be changing springs. Its the struts, strut bearings etc that go off and give you sloppy bounce and knocks. The springs are non wearing for all intents and purposes. As I said before, the guys to speak to are Heasmans. What they dont know doesn't matter and they're completely trustworthy. They'll advise you and quote you some options. Then you can get some comparos. But it sounds to me like replacing the struts with new factory ones will leave you completely satisfied and keep your car standard.
