    handbrake cable length - confused

I have Mk3 rear caliper and fitted it upside down because of the handbrake cable position is at top for my pre-88 Mk2.
As far as I know if I get the later Mk2 handbrake cable so it route to the bottom of the caliper I can refit the Mk3 caliper back to normal position, main advantage is I don't need to turn it up side down each time I bleed or change brake fluid.

Look at GermanAutoParts website, the earlier Mk2 cable is longer (1800mm), later cable is 1625 mm. Can any one confirm if earlier Mk2 cable is longer or shorter ? I read most other website, they all mention earlier cable is shorter.

I have this setup on my mk2. I used the standard cables, but mine is an 84! I mounted mine upside down and just bench bled them.
