ill definately look into it, but i am in no rush to buy as i dont have my liscence yet.(and partly due to the fact that i have no money atm :P)
A Mk3 is better than any basic locally-delivered Mk1 and the 2.0 goes quite well.Quote:

seems the best option for me and i am eagerly on the look out for an auto.
after driving several cars now i have found out what i am looking for...the refinement of a european car (mums land rover) and a small car (dads '59 morris minor 1000). But i have spoken to mum and she says i must get auto until green p's if i want a caras i dont have enough time to practice man. b4 my test, and i need a car as soon as possible as my bro will be drivin the suby for about a year and i wont b able to use it as a commuter.
agian thx for the help guys
although i do a question:
what are they like to maintan (price wise)?
my dad has told me that almost all european cars are costly to maintain as most parts have 2 be imported...is this true? i am quite short of dosh atm, would i b better of lookin at a japanese or australian built car?
question*
lol
Its like anything, you can spend less if you look around.
A well maintained golf will have fewer probs than most Jap cars, but you will pay more for something if it does go wrong than with a Falcrap or Commonhore. Thats cos they are bulit better. I reckon VW parts are on a par with Honda, a bit more than Mitsubushi or Toyata, but longer lasting.
Isn`t there a nice auto Mk3 sedan (vento) in the for sales section? Cordobas are also worth a look and are getting cheap. Most Mk1s need work and are getting a bit old for novices. The later cars have power steer and ac and other bits that my aging body likes :)
Once you have a vw, everything else is crap.
