Hi golf loon, are they 2 or 4 door and what interior are they?

Great work on the repair. You'll fly through the clutch. Just don't forget to tie up the drive shafts.

4 door. One is South African GTI rusty. Other is aussie delivered. Quite stripped. Got sets of good door trims and some pieces of seats but no sets. Have straight panels on shelf ready to go. Bargains for vwww members. No perfect drivers seats, window scrapers or roof moulds. Sorry. Everything else.

Good advice to tie up the driveshafts rallyenoel. I always cable tie the long one to the exhaust. Makes moving the box around heaps easier.

Sorry everyone, have had a busy week and long weekend. I will get a photo up of the finished job in the next couple of days. I finished with the bonnet and front end last Sunday. Took me and a couple of mates about 6 or 7 hours. it was much more fiddly than anticipated (particularly with getting the bonnet shut). Plus, I must admit i'm a beginner, I just like to learn how things work and embark on these missions myself. I imagine it would be a very quick job if your car is 100% straight.

I was just playing with the car trying to fix this hunting idle problem I've been having. Golf Loon, I spoke to you on the phone the other day about it and you suggested it was a vacuum leak. I've been looking into that, trying to hunt it down. No luck so far. A handy mate and I also tested the crank angle sensor with a voltmeter and it looks like its not signalling evenly? Anyone have any experience with this? I'm thinking I might try hunt down a distributor setup for a 2E engine.

Just to explain the issue further - The idle is hunting and the car sometimes stalls at lights. When driving, if i'm not giving it a few revs the car starts to jerk around a bit. If I put my foot down, it drives pretty smoothly... however I think I can feel a minor fluctuation in power, hard to say.

I should probably rename this thread.

Oh and I will definitely be contacting you soon about parts Golf Loon! Thanks for the heads up. I will eventually get around to that clutch. Thanks for the tip Rallyenoel!
