Alex, it's gonna be a looooooooooooooooooong drawn-out project, probly take me a good couple of years to get it how I want it, especially on my pay!

Car should be straight, painted and looking gorgeous by next friday, however it will still be 10 feet tall riding on 14" Enkeis!!! I'll have to so something about that soon........

Future mods will involve Weitec TX fully-adjustable coilovers all around probly dropped about 60mm F&R, Mk3 GL front brakes (already have them fitted to the rear..), Strut bars and sway bars all around (I love a tight ride...), then to top it all off a nice set of 16x8" BBS with mildly stretched rubber and polished lips...

The bodyshop will be colour-coding the tailgate handle, deleting the rear wiper and washer, deleting the aerial, debadging the bodywork and smoothing all badge holes, smoothing the "stoneguard" paint below the lower sill-line, removing all windows and rebuilding any deteriorated sills, and finally hard-blocking the entire paintwork before putting two solid coats of clear over the top.

    Like Big Kev, I'm excited...!!!

Sounds good to me mate, i'd love another Mk2 as a project car, you don't need much to make them look good either, just lowering with nice BBS' or design 90's is a good start.
It wasn't you i saw on the Byron Arts and Industrial estate was it?? White Mk3 with 17's on it about 2 weeks ago.

I'll keep an eye out for the Mk2 ......

Nah, my sister has had the Mk3 up in Brissie for the last 3 weeks, and it has 14" steelies on it...

Progress update... I'll let the pics do the talking...

At least it wasn't still pink, as it was earlier in the day. Tony (the panelbeater) sprayed the car in red oxide before the primer coats, and so it was a bright, lairy shade of pinky/red LOL...

    Congrats!

    Hey John,

Nice to see your lil MKII!
And a proud up grade from the MKIII I might say!

Its gonna be a beauty after the new paint!!

Good choice ditching the zender kit, they are a bit out dated and as the saying goes " you cant beat the original"

Cant wait to see it in the flesh.

    Good luck mate!

Going back in tomorrow arvo to see the car, it should have the rust repaired and be in primer by tomorrow. Tony's been right busy of late, so progress has slowed a little...

I want to drive my baby again. I'm driving the old man's TR-X at the moment, but it just doesn't have that raw urge of the Mk2...

As for the dash insert, Golf Loon has more golf bits than St Andrews' Pro Shop... sorry, it's been a long day, my sense of humour has suffered... so give him a PM, and he'll be able to help you out...

    Cheers!!!
