    Fuel Starving?

    Hi all, nice forum
I have a Mk2 Golf that came from South Africa. It is 1.8Kjet. 1986
Me an my brother have been fixing it up and got it registered yesterday.
It seems to go so slow. It free revs nice, but feels like its not getting enuf feuel when you drive it.
On the freeway it wont do over 120 at about 5000revs.
What could it be? The fuel filter looked ok and I cracked one of the fuel lines and it sprayed fuel over us.
Any help would be cool. Thanks guys

The things I would check (had a blockage problem that cost me $1500) are:
    1. in tank fuel pump (noisy? replace)
    2. external fuel pump (noisy? replace)
    3. filter. Apparently there are some filters from that era that can cause a blockage with the banjo connection screwing into the filter. I can find out the number of the proper retrofit filter if you like...
    4. small conical filter at the end of the intake fuel line going into the fuel distributor. It is in the banjo connection. This was the problem with my car...
    5. Fuel distributor. Check pressures with an inline guage. if screwed, talk to Brian at GTI.
    Euro look 2... Mk2 love!
