That sure will be a must! I've been down that road...
Yes, it means buy it from VW. For the record, I am only going off advice I have read on the internets - but the claims are the non OEM sensors give the better readings. $43 from a dealer is hardly going to break the bank.
Non OEM will be ok, but best to be certain with Digi's.
Picked one up today.

Thanks for that suggestion.
Just made an order from GAP and made sure NOT to get the blue temp sensor from there.
Looks like Ill be making a phone call to Bundy VW this weekend : ).
Ordered my two sensors from Matt. I'll let you guys know how it runs with the new sensors in, and the earth connected for the lambda.
They are genuine VW sensors too mate. I think the colour of one of em may be different, but it is a supercession. Sent you a couple of o rings too :)
Thanks for that Matt!

I'll let you know how it goes guys.
Fitted the sensors today.
I let it run to get the temp up and....IT WORKS!!
Temp gauge working, no misfiring or stalling either. Less smoke too since the lambda was connected.
Thanks again to all those that helped me find a solution to my problem.
