my audi when I had it, (1.8Kjet) would get around 11 ish around town, and maybe a bit up to 12's if you're really getting stuck into it. on the highway it got into the 7's though.

the mk 2 does 7-8's on the highway and 9-10's around town (according to the MFA)

I have a bog standard Aussie spec 1.8 Digi with a gearbox that does 3000 rpm at 100 ks. Average fuel consumption is 6.7 litres/100k but most of my driving is on country roads.

If I sit on 95 kph I can get it down to 6.3. Best I've ever done is 6.1 but I don't know how I did it.

A full tank of fuel gets me over 740 k's.

    Cheers

base on all these replies, for all 1.8 engine, digifant 8.5 - 10, k-jet 10 - 12 (around town), so I guess my Mk2 setup is ok now.
I just wander how velly_16v_cab get 7.6 around town in his 2.0 bottom end

i drive like a girl, mainly i have the wife and boy in the car and driving around Geelong there isnt too much traffic.
I do think the car maybe running lean, i will be getting it tuned once i get my chip fitted and mk3 exhaust manifold.

Maybe also i have driven mk2's now for over 10 years, maybe its just my driving

A 2litre conversion should use less fuel. It's all that extra torque.

Plant your foot and you use lots of fuel but drive gently and it will reward you with really good fuel figures.

I reckon this guys figures are close to the mark for a digi. Find someone with a CO machine and check the mixture. Also check all earths and vacpipes like before mentioned, normally when the vac pieps are split you will notice driveability problems along with the bad economy mate, an over rich engine with digi will run crap. Coolant temp sensor for the price is well worth replacing. i know now in the Uk the T4 2.0 which is Digi now gets a coolant sender as part of the service kit!!!! Good indication

The problem is back! Its fuel consumption has increased once again.
    Approximately 14 liters per 100km.
It also stalls once it gets hot. When you try to put it in R or D it will just stall. It also blows black smoke from the exhaust when you give it a little squirt.

Could the idle air bypass screw have anything to do with the stalling?

If you unplug the blue temp sendor you will probly find that it wont stall when it gets hot.

Digi2s are fantastic when it comes to sensors, when one goes you have to check/replace all of them to fix the problem and even then you might not fix it LOL.

Funny that because the blue temp sensor doesn't even work.
