anyway ive got the car back. just waiting for the headlights and indicators to come from america (its been two weeks, shouldnt be far away ((i hope))). ended up costing a smidge over 2k. i got the front bar from GTI Imports in sydney, and the panel beater got the guard.

syncro, you were thinking what I was thinking too! Lights from the USA are for LHD countries, and not suitable & illegal for use here...check that they have the correct beam pattern, and dip to the left, not the right!

hmm not real sure. cuz they use H4 bulbs, US model cars use 9004 bulbs or something. so they could be LHD after all. but some of them have a LHD or RHD setting. suppose ill find out when they arrive

Dude that was my old pride and joy! I had it a year ago. I bought it from a peugeot dealership and spent lots of money and time on it. I've included some photos of what it used to look like:

Put up some photos of it since the repair job!

I now own a Seat Ibiza GTi Cupra Sport - much nicer and faster car(much). It's up for sale.

hey hey there it is!!! what exactly did you do to it?? anything major, like a new clutch or anything?

i put a new transfer pump in the other day, and its running nicer now. it used to kinda surge at full throttle, much smoother now. its a good little car thou i reckon.

i feel bad for crashing it now... haha. ill take some pics tomorrow and put em up.

Don't feel too bad - it happens to the best of us.

I had it for about six months. A girl used to own it before me, uni student - think she was studying arts cos of the yellow paint stain in the back seat. She used to have it serviced at Volks Affair unfortunately. She traded it in at URL Peugeot in South Yarra which is where I picked it up from.

I had VW put in a new water pump which was hugely expensive because someone had stripped all the old threads, new air flow meter, lots of little things like GTi arches and spoilers which were missing, the bridgestones on the front of it now (great tyres I thought). Still got that ****ty CD player in it? Also needs a gear shift bush kit, if it hasn't had one put in yet.

When I sold it, it needed a new power steering pump which VW were going to charge me $1500 for! I told them where to go. After I sold it - I realized I shouldn't have. So I bought another one - bright red.

I had a problem with the silver one and I knew it could be fixed but didn't know how. When the car was cold it went like a bullet, but once it warmed up it wouldn't go as well. Had the same feeling with my red one so I sold it. I don't know what a transfer pump is and whether that has fixed the problem I had with it, but, I later found out that the blue temperature sender plug at the side of the head may have affected it as that partly decides the fuel mixture.

It was a great car to drive because it had the Koni Adjustables in the back, and also a factory rear strut brace which I haven't seen in many others. It would step the tail out easily with lift off oversteer. The times I had that in a big slide was unreal.

Yeah, would love to see some photos of it now.

ah cool. i dont think theres a paint stain on the back seat, maybe the guy i bought it off got rid of it. i wonder why the gti arches and spoiler werent on the car when u got it, hmm. yeh its still got that cd player in it. skips like crazy, think its almost time for a new one.

    heres some pics.

i replaced the timing belt, thermostat and a couple other little things when i first got it. the thermostat was stuck open, so it wasnt getting up to proper temp, which was making it use more fuel. also, something funny happened.. since i got it back from the panel beater a couple weeks ago, its been getting better fuel economy (says the MFA gauge thing). around town it used to get around 11.5-13 L/100km, now its more like 9.9-11. i havnt been on the highway yet, but i expect it to be down to 8. i dont know how accurate it is, but what would cause it to drop so much?

turns out the headlights im getting are lhd. ah well...hmm.

Im very impressed. The single lamp grill looks fantastic. That's a sick looking car.

A couple of arches and the spoiler were simply ripped off.

If its running well now then thats fantastic. My average economy was around 7.5ltr/100kms. I used to drive with the foot flat to the floor usually. Maybe the fuel ratio has been adjusted and improved to give optimum performance and economy.

Once again - looking great. Look after it
