When I looked at a cam, the best solution seemed to be a 268 exhaust cam. The 272 was a bit lumpy for peoples tastes.
The thing then is, your valves will now open down past TDC so you'll need to focus on maintaining the belts etc.
Hi all on here,
After a bit of advice on which camshaft to get for my Mk2 Aus spec Golf GTI, digifant 8v.
Current setup is stock head with 2.25 exhaust and Ramair induction kit is on its way.
Will be doing new lifters when I fit the cam, but will be keeping the original springs for now. Will be doing some head work later on and possibly a 2lt bottom end.
Ideally I would like a little lumpier idle but would prefer not to sacrifice too much low to mid range.
Have looked at the Autotech, Techtronics, Bahn Brenner and Newman ones. As these seem to be a good price for my fund situation.
Any suggestions and thoughts?

Bamish...
I went with the Autotech(AT) 270 cam and a few other goodies... seems to be a good balance. PM me for more info.
Cheers mate
I have got a Techtonic 272, bit lumpy but i like to 'grumble' at idle.. heeeheee.
Got Turbo Inside
TT 268 is quite OK on the street. Should be OK with the digifant, worked fine on my KJet 2.0L

Thanks guys, ended up going with Newman 272 due to it being ground for the original timing marks. So no need for a vernier. Ordered from TSR in the UK and they were very helpful.
Next question, will new standard hydraulic lifters be good enough or should i be looking at heavy duty ones?
Think She is in need of a new front plate.
