You and your bloody late model door handles !!! Took me 4 hours to fit the drivers door handle today. Had to trim the door skin where the handle goes in then bend and grind both levers on the lock mechanism. Even then it wouldn't lock so I had to adjust the travel in the handle so it wouldn't foul the lock mechanism but then it wouldn't release the latch to open the door. A bit of grinding the latch fixed that but the locking arm kept fouling somewhere so out came the whole lock assembly to be cleaned, oiled and internal brackets straightened (one was bent).
Looks good though.
Now I need to do the other 3 doors..........

Normally I don't mind doing this type of work as long as it works perfectly when I've finished but I still need to replace the front left wheel hub before work tomorrow (holiday today). I've done the front right - you should see how worn the bearing was - and upgraded to a MK3 hub with bigger brakes. So now I have a MK2 disk setup on the left of the car and a MK3 on the right. Check out the difference in size between the 2.
Then I have to finish doing the passenger front door handle. The passenger door lock was stuffed so it's been pulled apart, cleaned and oiled and put into the new handle. Now all I have to do is spend another 4 hours fitting it! Then the back ones!
It's times like this I wish I had a 2 door.
New handle, complete with oil stains.

Link didn't work for the first pic.
You wouldn't think upgrading from a 239 to 456 would really make that much difference, but it certainly does. Now with the mk 3 hubs, you'll be able to upgrade to 280's! yay! I've got 288's on mine atm, and lets just, they're really fun!
Link fixed.
I like the sound of 288's, just need to find some cheap ones.
You'd need 280's. Only reason I've got 288's is cause of the widetrack.
You're looking for a 'cupra' set up. I believe you can make it work using bits off a 280mm VR though. (caliper only, use 256mm carrier IIRC, then cupra 280mm disc.)
