Thread: Blew the motor in My Mk2. Conversion now underway.

    It starts, runs for 5 seconds and then dies. Sounds ok though. I suspect wiring or vacuum.
    Check that the fuel pump relay is connected properly.
    There are two feeds, start and run.

    Thanks for the tip syncro, my car has a hard wire that starts the pump. Perhaps the ecu recieves a signal back from the pump relay?

    I had a 16v that did this run for 5 seconds before dieing. I hadn't connected the vac pipe to the servo. A big air leak basically, the car was running on the fuel from the cold start injector, which runs for a short time.

    There wasn't a big whistling noise to give away the disconnected pipe or I'd
    have found it sooner.
