Billy's Mk2 CL Ragtop. 'Operation; Rags to Riches'

Hello guys,
I usually hang around the Mk3 section as I have a white mk3 2.0l as my daily but today I went out on a limb and bought a Red Mk2 CL with a 1.6l.

It was built in 1986, the owner believed it was a SA import but its got a West Germany VIN plate so I'm not sure where its from!
It's got a straight clean body with hardly any rust, might notice some more once I begin stripping it down a little bit.

The speedo is a little off but it's only dont about 56000 miles, yes miles so its around 90000kms!

And the only major reason I bought it!

It's got a ragtop! In full working order with no leaks!

Plans over the next couple of weeks are;
Get the motor running well, needs new plugs and what not.
Clean the car up! Paint is a little weak.
Strip the interior and get some new door cards/seats installed.

Hopefully if all this goes to plan I will be ordering some coils to acquire some lows after its running and looking dandy.

Yeah I spotted it when I was up for 20 hours or so, text the guy and went to see it today. Not too bad, only paid $300

so hopefully it doesn't back fire on me aha

Aha thanks mate!

Well at the moment the mk3 is a luxury to drive compared to the mk2 but hopefully when the ragtop is all good and better it might become my new daily drive

nah thats the thing, they aren't comfier or quieter or faster (sometimes) but they just have something different that makes them so much fun to drive.
