    Big wheels - what fits?

There's probably a thread somewhere on this but I couldn't find it.

    What's the best offset for 16's and 17's, 8" or 9" wide?

This is what I'd like my car to look like. Does anyone know what size tyres it has and the offset?

    Cheers

offset and width are nothing without each other.
Check out pictures of Jarreds mk2 VR (has wide track so offsets will vary to yours) but they are 17x8et35 from memory. Most would say 17s are far too big, but it works for some reason.

I have read through the wheel threads on vwvortex on this subject. That golf above is most probably 15 x 8.5 front , and 9.5 or 10 at the rear. You can fit 16x9.5 at rear with about offset of 15 or 20 , and 16x8.5 et 20 fit really easy.

That's what I wanted to know. Thanks.

The wheels in the picture are 17's and look damn hot but I don't know how well they would suit everyday use.

I'd still drive that over the millions of ricers on the road!

Personally I think 16in is way big enough to fill the arches and not look like a dorky school kid with new shoes.
Also has a lot to do with the roads where I live. Riding 40 or 45 high rubber would be like riding a horse and cart.

agree with the widths and offsets, however I reckon that white one is on 16s.

Paul, given how much you're going to drive your car, I doubt it's going to be that low, or that wide and aggressive. if you're going to run wide wheels with low offsets, you're going to have to run a stretched tyre and appropriately LOW to make it look good.

ie. 8.5's. be prepared to trim arches and roll gaurds etc too.

This is what is on my MK2 now.

    Big wheels - what fits?-2012-e-may-c-jpg

    15 x 6 BBS RA's running 50 profile tyres.

I get the car next week so I still don't know how she drives on the local country roads. I'm hoping the 15's give a good ride but it depends a lot on the coilovers (Hottuning). The 16's would be for club meets and special occasions, like this one.

What size tyre/rim combo were you running?

    I also like this look.

those were 17's, with silly small tyres and it was very VERY low.
