    Auto adjusting clutch cable woe

Ok people time has come to fit the auto adjusting clutch cable I have as the old one seems to be playing funny buggers.

The problem I have is that there is a plastic clip which seems like it should be fitted in the manufacturing process to the cable (as there is no way to get the large ends of the cable past the small hole of the clip).

    A few pics for description.

Can anyone offer any advice on how best to fit the cable etc, and please don't say fit a manually adjustable one.

    Here is the cable

Here is the clip which I believe should be on the shaft of the cable and not separate....

And here is the old one showing the circular part of the clip which had the ends broken off it.

    Hey

I am about to do the same thing on mine but there is no plastic bracket in the middle of mine. I am putting in a manual adjust cable

I have a grommet for the firewall but that's it.

Maybe it just suspends the cable in the engine bay so it doesn't rub on any other pipes?

Perhaps its just used when vw install it onto the car. I dont believe theres one on my car, all u need is the white flexy thing which allows u to remove + install the cable.

no mate the long plastic slip serves a purpose, it applies a compressive force to the cable, each end has an attachment close to the big end of the cable.

It looks right, just throw that black piece away and fit the cable, then release the white clip on bit and you are done.
