Thread: audi throttle body

    audi throttle body

    Hi all,

Ive purchased a MAF from a BMW 535 from a VW shop overseas...the seller has specified it to be a bolt on mod for a mk2...im thinking of buying an audi 'overbore' throttle body off the seller which he also claims to be bolt on

Has anyone done these mods before? and how close is the operation to 'bolt on'?

My experience is that the best mod for the Australian delivered RV engined GTi's is to replace the tiny little downpipe off the exhaust manifold with something like the european ones had.

Not sure of the dimensions but im sure it will fit. I still think from memory the Audi throttle body has still got 2 butterflys. There was a throttle body out there that had 1 butterfly, i remember fitting one to a Campaign model Gti MK1 back in 88. Cant from memory remember where we got it though, but i do remember the MK1 went like a bear with a sore head!

You could always get bigger injectors with that larger throttle body, ask that superchip guy me and static got the chip from, he could probably program a new chip for you with a different fuel pressure and rev limiter even, just ask him and he'll do it for no extra charge, i.e 50 bucks!

Well the jobs done! The MAF idea does work!

Just wanted to thank you all for your advice, as a VW newbie im amazed at how tunable Golfs are.

I installed an aftermarket chip and then installed the MAF...the maf took a bit of tinkering to tune it to my car but was it worth it! Throttle is so much more responsive and acceleration has improved vastly, not to mention torque. And the sound from the bigger intake is awesome. Would be interested to know how many extra horsies ive recruited?

Missed out on the audi throttle body but ill be on the prowl for one

And whats more the MAF and chip has cost me $200...
