man up...
Just wondering how much of a job installing aircon in the Mk2 would be? It appears that we arent going to be having in winter in WA from now on and I'm a bit of a poof when it comes to driving in a hot car.
I'm guessing AC wasnt a really big option where most of the Mk2s were sold.
Any help is appreciated - and no telling me I need to harden the fark up.

i thought all aussie delivered gti's got air? is this the cl that u were trying to sell before?
I had the AC out of an aussie 8v installed into my 16v which didn't have it(UK car) I didn't do it myself but it's a good few days work if you can afford to be without the car. Also has a little to do with what engine you have, I needed a special 16v mounting bracket and I also had the power steering installed at the same time.

How much did it set you back ausgolfer? No its the South African GTI I have. The ABF is going in the hole with the AC and PS still on it...

well if your engine is being put in with it....
on one hand it's easier and on another hand it's more difficult.
easier because your power steering pump and compressor are already mounted to your motor.
and more difficult because you will need to make the accessories like a/c pipes and power steering pipes mount up to a differently set up compressor and pas pump.
I would imagine on top of the installation of the motor they may charge another 500 odd to make the power steering and a/c work.
I think my installation was about 1200 which required taking the front of the car apart fitting mounts and pulleys and pumps, installing the rack and radiator/condenser set up, wiring etc.
