Aftermarket ecu conversion

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has changed to a complete aftermarket ecu on there mk2 8v digi. Now I mean a complete ecu not a chipped standard one. If so I would like some feedback on the type of ecu used (microtech,motec,helltech,ems ect)........ As I'm looking to do so but to much out on the market that work well with different setups.

I have 4into1 extractors with a full 2 1/4 exhaust to follow, I have a small cam not sure on type ,adjustable cam gear, and will be using the car for race days and fun days (not on the street)

I have been thinking about this for my digi corrado. I'd go with an Autronic SM4, self tuning, but they're a little on the pricey side. Around $2400.
