Makes no difference at all if you do the prep well, people prefer 2 pack as you can mix the amount of thinners you want in it, but get whatever your comfortable with nothing else.
Quick question......MkII's would be Acrylic paint right? a bit too early for 2 Pack?
Cheers guys

i'd say your right - mk2's would likely have acrylic paint from the factory....certainly looks like it and seems to age that way...

Im talking about touchups....small area resprays....was wondering what the orginal paint would have been on the MkII....
it is all about the prep..as you said.
Id prefer to use Acrylic as its cheaper and less noxious!

Yep i havent done a metallic (solid yes) before but im giving it a shot, worst that will happen is I stuff it up and start again or get sick of trying and just pay someone to do it...its not a full respray though. just a few small areas...
will keep you posted on my failures :p im being anal about sanding and primer though so maybe that will help me haha

You can mix whatever thinners you want with acrylic as well.
Obviously, it'll be too much or not enough though, or just right.
2 pack is made of thinners and hardner, as well as colour (hence the 2). the thinners is actually relatively the same (in quantity) for 1pak (arcylic) and 2 pak, it's the hardner that is the hard part to mix, as it varies with temp, humidity etc etc.
And there is a big difference between the two, otherwise everyone would use 1 pak, cause it's easier to spray and mix. 2 pak is generally much better quality, and better finish. (harder, longer lasting etc)
I think it might be harder trying to match with the metallic! ha.
you could just spray the whole car in flat black if all else fails! Ha ha.
Good prep is what it is, not matter what colour, type, etc etc. Cleanliness is v.important. But you probably know this already.
Good luck I spose.
