    8v head build up

Sorting out all my gear for my build up. I have a Autotech 270 cam and a mk3 2l head and I'm looking at the following parts from autotech.

    Adjustable All-Alloy Timing Gear
    L/W INTERMEDIATE SHAFT PULLEY
    SPORTTUNED VALVE SPRING SET, 8V
    SPORTTUNED Titanium RETAINER SET, 8V

the head has a few bent valves so i need to pick up some locally. Plan to get the head ported and polished etc. also but that kinda goes with out saying

So basically this a good build up? I have a powerchip digi2 chip on the way at the moment as well as a k&n pod setup on the car already, i'm confident it will make some pretty good power. Is this a good setup anything ive missed? besides the supercharger kit that will be coming in the future.

Is it a full 2 litre motor you are fitting?

I had an 2E bottom end with an 1800 head when I was in the UK and that rev'd well without a lightweight pulley on the intermediate shaft. Cam gear is a defo though.

I don't know that you could rev it hard enough to need titanium parts in the head.

Mine ran to about 6800 with a longer cam than you are running.

As an 1800 with the same head it pulled 7700 with oversize valves and std retainers.

If I were you, I'll go for a 2.0L block and do up the 1.8 head. Since you already bought all the parts, ignore what I said

I have always read that the Mk3 8v heads have a worse flow then a Mk2 GTI head. I am currently building a 2L (AGG) block for my GTI and I plan on using the std EV head as a base for modification.

I got rid of the AGG head after reading (on clubgti and vwvortex) that it flows worse then the Mk2 GTI heads.

I am currently running the autotech 270deg cam in my car. It is a very subtle difference, but still noticable.

What size valves are you going for?

OK never heard that, I think it depends on what mk2 head also, as i think the rv heads had smaller valves then the euro gti heads.

a little help on this would be nice, dont want to waste my money
