For a muffler, jsut go to an exhaust shop and get a straight through muffler.

I had one on my mk 1, and it was great

Yer sorry, by sport I just meant louder/ smaller than stock - like Jarred said, an exhaust shop should do you one for about $100. It sounds like it might already have had some work done on the exhaust and you may not need it .

I can guarantee that a small 10in sub with a 150W rms or so amp will sound far better than any 6x9's in the shelf. Any of the half decent brands - pioneer/ clarion/ sony/ kenwood will go ok, but Alpine do make nice stuff. Also, don't try and make a sub box unless you know what you're doing.. the $40-$50 ones from the stereo shop work pretty well

Any aussie sites with coilover pricing? I'll probably just end up getting hottuning anyway since they've been pretty popular/reliable on this forum so far.

coils $800 + ~$350 install (whatever jmac charges)
strut $135 + $20? post
Audio $300 - $800 self install

that's pretty average imo.

My mk 1 sounded alot better than that. Heaps beefier & better tone.

That just sounded & looked like a cannon to me. op can do alot better than that

if you choose to go with 1 pipe all way through, make sure you:
1. dont forget to add the Cat
2. dont let the highway patrol catch you and use that stupid DbA meter

3. wont have much use since the AU mk2 gti extractors are the same as RP engine which is the german 90hp mk2.
get full extractors with high flow cat all way through with 76mm for about 1500 if its custom built or around 1000 inc the extracotr if you find one on ebay.
my exhaust man did full piping exept the extractors, but incl the hiflow cat 76mm through with twin dtm enpipe for $500 and he wanted 500 for custom extractors.
And if anything install coilovers yourself.
Takes about 20-30mins. saves you alot of cash

I'll leave exhaust for now I think, power should be fine for now and the money might be better put elsewhere.

I'll try the coilover install with a few friends first, but if we get stuck, jmac should give a good deal on install to vww members.

nah man, you wont get stuck with them.
front ones have 3 bolts and rear have 2 or do both have 2??????
been working on skyline lately.
think its 2 bolts on top under bonnet and 2 on the back of the brakes.
the ones on the back of the brakes are a pain in the ass to undo cause they tighten over time.
good to have a really strong wrench.
think top was 14mm and bottom was 17mm.
but yeah. MK2's are basic cars and so easy to take apart. just make sure you have level ground and set up your coilovers to the right height.
the skyline got modified and got stuck on the jack. was 20mm of the ground.
also remember that suspension settles in once you drive it. after about 20km they settle in and fully lower themselves.
mine set about another 10mm when i started driving.

i have two sets of mk3 Vr6 brakes provided you buy a set of Seat cupra discs, vr6 brakes will bolt to your hubs and are 280mm which is more than adiqute for a mk2
