    Ylod!!!

    Yep,
    I've been done! The YLOD (yellow light of death) has struck my Launch 60gb PS3 on Friday night!
    It's been a fair as i use it for gaming, watching movies and listening to music. It's become our home entertainment system in one!
    Has anyone had this happen to their PS3 and had it fixed? If so, where did you go. Don't really want to send it to Sony as they charge @ $300+ to fix it (word has it they actually just send you a different refurb unit back to you).

    Anyone used Beetronix to fix them? http://www.beetronix.com.au/

    Or : http://www.ausgamestore.com/categories/repairs.html

    Any help would be great.

    Cheers,
    Jayse.

    Look at what owning an Xbox has done to your grammar. Doesn't happen to us PS3 boys.

    First time I've ever heard of it... I'm not even using mine much besides playing MGS (yes the PS1 version) on it. Do you think the amount of use would be related to its reliability?

    MGS = AWESOME!

    Seems to be a specific issue with the Launch 60Gb model and has to do with overheating which could be related to the fact that this model has backwards capability. (Don't ask me how???)

    I'd just make sure it's well ventilated, ie. not in a TV Unit shelf and free of dust on all the vents. Going on all the info i've read about it, some guys have been using them 2-4hrs/day and had no dramas or some use it sparingly and have copped it. I think mine might have been down to a power surge.

    Going to give the guys at Ausgamestore a call to see how much/long etc.

    Cheers,
    Jayse.
