Catching up with South Australia, just watch it going to VIC, where a few South Aussies got pulled for not having one displayed

You can please some of the people some of the time

Been the practice here in W.A. since 2010 and the cops introduced number plate recognition in their patrol cars.
Now the public here, are asking the govt. to re introduce the rego stickers as too many people have been pinged for forgetting to re license their cars. They claim a windscreen sticker is a constant reminder????

Rta sends you letter when the car is due for renewal anyway so I don't see the problem. Can't wait to take my sticker off though. Will be good driving around act getting pulled over every 5 minutes.

Yeah, we had one club member who has his car confiscated for 3 days until he could provide proof of rego. Not happy. If you're going interstate it's a good idea to print out a copy of the online certificate and carry it in the glovebox just in case (handwritten receipt number will not cut it).

As a side note, because you can now go online and check to see if cars are registered just by entering the plate number, its good for checking on potential purchases as it will show up if they are defected/stolen/written off or its obvious if the wrong plates are on there. I even spent a few minutes looking up all of my old cars to see if they are still registered!

i guess this means parking rangers will no longer be able to ping you for not displaying a current rego sticker?

in NSW they plan to issue a reminder notice...so they can spend twice as much time, money and paper as they do now

And they have an apple/android app too, which is peanuts to use so there's really no excuse for not knowing your rego is up... I think the system works well, having been on it in SA for a while now...
