Your car is a mode of transportation. You're worried about other people spending $1300. You spent $45k+ on a GTI Pirelli.
Why didn't you save $30k+ and just buy a Toyota Echo/Yaris?
It's still an effective mode of transportation. The roads only have 60km/h speed limits anyway. So you can't appreciate it like buying a Formula Ford and racing it at Eastern Creek. I'm all or nothing After all, it is still $30k+ that can be put to other things... like the polar bears!

I was the first to respond, cause I was just online at the time. But one of the reasons I've posted aggressively as if we've been discussing for months, is because we have! And you've already used the exact same argument in the previous threads, and everyone has already agreed with you on the obvious... yes, cars are not ideal environments for listening to music.
It is not posted for those who have already purchased their cars. It is for those who haven't and are contemplating options. What is wrong with that? You have already made your choice, so be it.

You seem intent on quelling any opinion that is at odds with the choice you have made and have tried very hard to derail the intent of the thread by taking it off topic.

Good grief, it is like trying to deal with a bunch of school boys.

Why is it so hard to have discussion on aussie forums w/o someone getting their knickers in a twist?

The thread on the new Scirrocco is a good example. When pologti1.8 states that the price of the new rocco is not going to be near the $70K being bandied about by someone, he gets jumped upon.

Good grief Corey. I am not worried about what they spend their $1300 on, they can spend it on prostitutes for all I care. I was just putting one point across. WTH is wrong with that? Is the reason you are railing against it is because makes you look stupid for having paid for the upgrade?

Beside, I bought the Pirelli because I love driving it, not listening to the sound system, is what the main purpose of the car is for? Transportation not as a lounge?

Pray tell, how have I done so?

Have I personally critised anyone's choice to take up the upgrade? e.g. Did I say " Oh Corey is such a d**k for taking up the dynaudio upgrade? Or BrendanA is stupid for having done so? Hell, I didn't even know BrendanA existing till he posted in the thread.

I merely pointed out the reasons why the upgrade might not be worth it. Me thinks some of you are a bit too thin skinned or have to look at their pride.

    What a pointless thread.

If you want better sound than the standard stereo you should certainly consider the dynaudio upgrade.

Well this thread is getting nowhere. Also there is so much information already on car audio available on net.

Because you've already done it before, multiple times, in multiple places.....

From the Dynaudio in Mk6 Golf compared to stock? thread

But then I also think what you can get aftermarket for $10,000 is only "ok".

Car audio is crap, lets face it. The biggest limiting factor is... the car itself. It's just a rubbish environment to try and reproduce sound. Then on top of that, we go and drive around whilst reproducing that sound, so it's then fighting with the noise of other cars, trucks, wind, tyre and road noise, and the noise of the engine and the exhaust.

The stock system is so bad that I just wouldn't listen to it. And in my MKV GTI, I never did/could.
I've tried before in a previous car to limit myself to a budget of $1k of aftermarket gear and couldn't find anything I was happy with after a day of auditions and driving around from car audio specialist to specialist. Trying again with a budget of $3 to 5k wasn't any more successful. So wouldn't bother with a $1300 aftermarket system.

The $1000 Dynaudio option on my R is "listenable" (I also got the Sat Nav, so it's only $1000 diff). In fairness, my friends think it's great.

I'm just happy I didn't have to go through the pain and waste of time of auditioning $1300 of aftermarket crapness and getting it installed. The Dynaudio system comes in your car from the factory, so it's an effortless decision to make
    Corey is right.

The acoustics in any car (even in a Maybach) is shyte. The very foundation of a good audio system. i.e. Stereo (meaning solid/3D) imaging from ICE is either unrealistic or non-existant.

IMO, why even bother spending the extra $1300 on the Dynaudio upgrade? it still is going to be shyte.
Unless you are going to be spending hours sitting in traffic or driving somewhere (and that little uplift in bass colouration (doff doff) floats your boat). It is better saving the $1300 for a better system (NOT HT!) at home.
From the Golf R -v- Golf GTI thread, and a series of posts which was deleted because of the same silly argument getting too heated.

The discussion has gone off on a tangent off as usual - so lets end this side discussion.
And another from the same thread...

Couldn't agree more. Not worth spending money on audio in such a poor environment - the improvements will be minimal at best.
