bank cheque or cash?
Hi All
Can someone remind me what the payment options are available for a private sale?
Im selling my polo at the moment and wonder how potential buyers can get the cash to me safely?
Previously ive always traded in but i should be able to get more for the Pog if i sell privatly i believe.
Cheers all

The options are completely up to you. You may choose to accept beer, gold bullion, cash, cheque, Paypal... um "favours"...
Really, cash is king, followed by a bank cheque, but I have also accepted direct deposit before. In my case the couple seemed genuine and they used my computer to transfer funds and printed the receipts out on my printer. Normally I would have preferred payment to clear before I let the car go, but again I chose to take the risk.

i would get the buyer to electronically transfer funds directly to your account, and then he/she can collect the car once the funds have cleared (up to 48 hours).
even bank cheques have clearing times of 2-3 days and funds are not accessible until the funds have cleared

cash is the safest way but a pain in the ass to count lol i have accepted bank cheque many times and luckily never had a issue..
I bought my Mk V privately a few weeks ago and got the funds transferred electronically to the owners bank account.
It cost me about $20 extra to get a quick transfer and it took less than 2 hours to be in the owners bank account.
Who wants to carry wads of notes around with you while you are looking for a car?
