    What offset should i do...

    Hi all,

I'm about to order some adapters for my new wheels, the rears i don't have much play due to them already poking with the smallest of adapters. But i need to decided on the thickness of the front adapters to depict where the wheels sit.

I want your thoughts on what thickness to get for the front, which will then adjust the look.

15mm will have the wheels sitting about 8mm in the arches
20mm they will push them to about 3mm inside the arches
25mm and they will be about 2mm outside give or take a bit.

I'm thinking the 20mm to give me heaps of clearance to the coilovers but 25mm might match the rears more...

the car is a black VW Bora
wheels are BBS RS 17x7 and 17x9, so ill be having a 45 profile tyre and with a little stretch on the rears (215/45/17 im thinking), and the fronts will try to get vertical walls on the tyres.
The car is on coilovers so i can go whatever height i like.

    The wheels:

The car with 18" wheels (not lowered):

Current height with room to move up and down:

I would go the 20mm spacer.

I think it look sbetter having the rear's stick out a bit more than the front's.

depends how low you want to go?

I'd go 20 or 25mm, just cause I like more equal offsets/poke. might have to run a bit more stretch on the front than just vertical, if you want lots of lowness

25mm adptors and I'd switch to a 205 for the front.

where you getting the adptors from?

well at that height i've only hit one thing with the front (a speed bump, that happens to be designed outside Australian standards ) so maybe a tad lower... probably not to much though

205 will give me pretty vertical walls on a 7" wide wheel going by some of the wheel calculators we have on this site. which is what im thinking, so that'd be the widest id do.

im looking at these from driven performance currently for the rear wheels, the fronts im unsure as of yet.

Nice wheel choice!! Are they Jap fitment? 114.3?

I'd go with the 20mm fronts. 195 would look better on 7" i think.

How about going 195/45/17 front and something like 215/40/17 rear to keep the diameter of all 4 tyres as close as possible?

I've got 195/40/17 on my 301's which are 7 1/2" wide, they have a small stretch and look good.

    yep, 114.3

sounds good, didn't think about putting different profile depth, but that works well. thanks!!

just looking at those sizes compared to my existing wheels, they are going to put my speedo out by a further 4km... so ill be about 12km/h out at 100ks... can this be resolved without putting bigger tyres on?
