Amen! I have always loved VW because you are getting a well engineered (German) car which is not a [s]pretenous[/s] "prestigious" BMW/Audi/Merc. Its a Volks Wagon (literally german for "the people's car") which would bring a smile to older people's face when they saw yours as they reminince about their experiences in aircooled or early watercooled VWs.
Not so sure about the last 15 years worth of market positioning to try to make VW an "aspirational" brand . . .

Have to agree with Umai on this one back in the 80,s Mercs were often quoted as Gold Coast taxis as there were so many around the coast , then in 1984 we were in Germany and Merc Taxis were everywhere . So like Mercs VW are just another "locally " built car from Germany
How about $170.00 for new windscreen wiper blades for B7 Passat?
Stealer gave phone call after left car for service advising blades needed replacement.
OK I said (Feeling depressed, what the heck!)
When I went to pick up, was advised no blades fitted , out of stock.
So now have a chance to look for better priced blades.
Any suggestions?

Take the old inserts out and head to your local auto accessory store , bound to be something compatible .
Providing you can get them out.
Late B6-onwards you couldn't replace them. Had to buy the whole blade assembly.
