You hit the nail on the head gareth.
Too many people these days over complicate things. If it makes you happy do it
spending all of ones money on a car wont lead to happiness either.
I think that life needs balance. No point living a conservative lifestyle if it makes you unhappy. Gotta be a happy medium somewhere. Maybe I should have said if you can afford it and it makes you happy, then do it.
Money doesnt buy happiness but it RENTS A BL00DY GOOD TIME !!!

I'd get the fastest ariel atom / ktx x-bow / caterham I could lay my hands on.
Then probably a sweet hot hatch with some mods for daily duties but not too thirsty on fuel.
Then an jaguar XJR would be there for longer drives with a DOPE stereo.
A fezza (458 or 599 GTO?) or lambo or koenessiegg ccxr would also be in the mix but I honestly dont know when I'd drive it.
I'd also indugle my latent interest in motorbikes. I've never ridden but i'd like to learn and get a harley VRSC and mod the gills off it

many years ago, my girlfriend (now my wife) wanted to buy a car - I tried to get her to buy a Mini Cooper S, which at the time was around $4000. Her very clever accountant dad, who has no idea about cars, convinced her to do the smart and wise thing and spend the money on a corolla instead. when she sold it a few years later, for $2000, the Cooper S was worth $8000, and these days a good one is worth over $30000

For a super car I would love the Koenigsegg Trevita
For a weekend road weapon the Ferrari 458 Italia
For a rally experience Mitsubishi Evo X
For real 4X4 off raod action Land Rover Discovery 4
For the daily grind VW R20 with a heap of mods!!!
I'm easy,
probably make the polo into a low, wide body, RWD monster
restore the GLD to show quality polished everything and finally get those ATS classics.
then probably custom mercury lead sled with lake pipes massive roof chop and all white leather interior.
black lowrider lincon continental with with scuicide doors and alll red interior.
Super muscel car 68' Pontiac Firebird
