Western Australia approach to road saftey.

If you're not in WA, or haven't seen this ad, have a look, it's a bit of a different approach, some of the message is the same old, but have a look.....

In QLD there is an ad with a young guy and his girlfriend, it shows how because of his carelessness she dies, and he won't live a proper life after what has happened because of his actions.... a fair point, but is this really something that should be on TV, and doesn't it torture people that have lost someone in those circumstances?

I hope WA sees better results out of this ad than the scare tactics ones do.

Please no boyracer replies, there's a more appropriate forum if you want that.

    hahahahaha

    sorry

    hahahahaha

    apparently driving is a pleasure?

for me too, especially when I can exploit the car's full capabilities.

next thing they'll be promoting buying a donkey instead.

And i did not know, but the advert suggests that speeding will give me diabetes!!

I do agree that people (who cant drive) can be aggressive and angry on the road and thats bad. I'm never angry.

but I honestly dont think this advert will work

I watched that at work without speakers and I have to say without the voiceover it makes no sense whatsoever. It's just a series of random images.

That's a very nice change from QLD campaigns.
Last year (year 12), we had the message "if you speed, you will die" hammered into us.

Not saying it's perfect or my favourite by any means, just a forward step for these sort of messages.
I totally agree. That whole ad is just a great message in general, regardless of what its about its a good reminder for some of us to just slow down our lives and chill!
I dont enjoy driving slowly though, but i know that i can get there just as fast by going at a normal pace. But i dont get stressed anxious or aggressive. Much.

At first I thought it was some kind of religious ad where they were trying a more indirect tactic to convert people!

Talking about poor road users is a whole other bag of worms though. It's the way people stop-start irratically in traffic that causes the jams. If the lights go green, why cant everyone just go at once together???!!!

    ...aaaaanyway.

The ad is good, but does not convey the correct message - i.e. is another take on speed kills etc

Driver training, courtesy, common sense, correctly maintained vehicles, removal of distractions etc is where the education and money should be directed!

    Holy crap!

I'd rather watch a fifteen second ad where someone fake dies rather than watch this three minute milking session.

I liked the ad, and it made me think too. I'm a week away from getting back on the road after a three month licence suspension (130km/h in a 100 zone while overtaking two 4WDs towing caravans...) and have spent more time in the passenger seat than usual. It's a much nicer experience as a passenger whan people just chillax and not race around, rage at traffic etc.

Shakespeare, good post mate. Nothing calms me more when I'm driving than cruise control (101km/h on the Freeway) and listening to Mozart or Vivaldi - the only two classical music CDs I have.
