Wink Weird bugs living on my brand new Golf R

    Hi guys

I know this sounds funny but I have some strange bugs living on my brand new Golf R. It's only done 1000km but I've noticed them since the first 2-3 days.

I've never seen the bastards before until now. I park the car in the same spot as my other two cars and they have nothing.

I gave the car a quick blast at carlovers with the high pressure hose to wash off some dirty residue from the rain but it seems like the bugs have well and truly colonised my new car

I found one inside the car today so I really don't want this to become a problem.

The only two possible explanations I can come up with:

    • They're attracted to the polish that was used when the dealer handed over the car
    • They're attracted to white paint (my other two cars are black)

    Here's a pic

haha I just came across a Meguiars forum thread that says it could be because the wax smells like fruit? I would have thought bugs were discerning enough to recognise artificial fruit smell but I guess not

Are your's the same type of bug?

Bugs with exceptional taste in cars perhaps?

    Cheers

Just a few more bugs than usual on a VW.

We have an infestion of tiny little ones in Brissy and they have covered some cars when parked for even a few minutes.

Seems to be the time of the year with butterflys and bugs prevalent

It's White. My Yeti attracts them in droves, yet all the cars nearby have only a few.

Then again I did use fruity smelling Wax not so long back.....

Maybe that's how the VW Beetle got it's name instead of the car shape

Just to add to the weirdness, I went to my mums place around the corner and they're all over her white Skoda, but none on my stepdads silver Amarok. Also seems like more of the bugs landed on my car parked outside my mums place, and there was a black Hilux parked behind with not one bug on it.

Must be a combination of the colour, wax, and that particular type of bug being around a lot at the moment. I'm in the inner-west of Sydney btw (Drummoyne)

Here are pics of the skoda and golf

    That's not a bug problem.
