VWA takes notice of VWW forums?

I was told that VW has instructed the dealers (not sure if all or just the one?) to take 'good' care of the members in the VW forum.

This was with regards to my enquiry about some extended warranty costs.

    Anybody heard similar comments?

By the same token, it would be wise to be mindful of what you post on such forums, lest you give cause for VW to deny a warranty claim...

The guys in tech support read it too

Also, there are a lot of VW service techs on here as well.

It's all too easy to start throwing insults around because of a concern you have a with a dealership, but bare in mind one of their employers could be reading, printing off the page, and passing it onto their superiors...

I know one of the sales team from my local dealer browses through this site, as we've had discussion regarding.
On the other hand he was the one who put me onto superskoda, so I think that's all good

Doesn't really do me (personally) any good. Maybe with enough complaints on certain issues they may get things done... but it's not like I'll introduce myself as ziggyboy from VWW in person.

Most wise manufacturers will keep an eye on the more popular forums, and the faithful often get to reap the rewards. Geoff Polites, who was the president of Ford Aus at the time, used to check and post on a certain Ford forum I used for frequent. This resulted in a group of us being received by Geoff during a trip to Melbourne and shown the BA Falcon about a year before it was due to be released.

Forums like this are another form of social media, and social media is taken very seriously by the business sector these days.

I used to work for a large telecomms provider who had a full team of people dealing with large forums as well as facebook and twitter in order to maintain brand integrity and deal with gripes customers had.

It always struck me as odd though that customers took to social media first before dealing with the company directly though.

I think most people would try to approach the company first, but social media is always easier to access. If you want some sort of warranty repair you'd need to wait til the service centre opens at 7am, book a day, have the car assesed, then fixed. On the other hand, social media is available on your mobile phone... I can post online even before I make that first 7am call to the service centre the following day.
