VW RNS 510 Turning off issue

    Hello,

Recently just purchased an Eos 2010 TDI DSG for the wife.

I have done a search and found a similar thread but was there was no identified solution.

Upon driving the car home from Sydney, The radio was fine until about Mt White area.

It turned off, and reset after about 1 min or so. Completely off, no lights, nothing.

Found a similar thread as I said, but does not really describe a fix.

It has been doing it now every 10 mins driving on the Central Coast

Called the dealer and its $148 for a scan to identify the problem.

Can anyone suggest a possible fix or solution if they have experienced this issue.

    Cheers... LVD

    Load 5238 firmware.
    Then test it again.

Have rcd300 in mk5 Jetta that turns off after 60min exactly. Have to turn in again manually then get another 60min.
Don't drive many long trips but is always a comment of "well 1 hrs since we left"
    MK4 GTI - Sold
    MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold

It's pretty straight forward to remove the radio and reseat the main connector. Worth a shot in case it a poor connection.

Hmmm so known issue with the IG switch. Anyone know a decent price for replacement at a dealer?

OK to add to the weirdness, went for a drive to Sydney today to Ikea. Went off once on the M1 close to Ourimbah exit.
Did not go off once in Sydney, on the return home went off again close to Ourimbah. So if anyone has any ideas. Unsure how a ignition switch could be effecting the functionality of the unit. Let me know your thoughts people.. Just dont want to throw $$$ at it when it wont fix the problem. LVD

The igniton switch has an internal fault that intermittently cuts power to the accessories.
