Only thing to check would be the diesel injectors. Though not sure if this applies to Tiguans.
Give the lovely people at VW Assist a call. I'm sure they need some more owners calling them.
Also I haven't seen anything that says there is "officially" a recall - purely media speculation that a recall is "expected".
The only thing out of VW is to take your car back and get it checked if you have any concerns - which is nothing other than standard procedure.

There were a couple of campaigns for this model, but no recalls as such.
One was for sticking door handles, and the other was something to do with the rear seats. Might've been one or two more, but nothing major.
If you're concerned, phone up your local VW dealer, and quote your VIN to them.

Got the following email from VW today. I'm most VW owners would have received the same email by now.
Dear XXXX,
At Volkswagen Australia, we have always been committed to our customers’ safety and peace of mind, and continue to focus on delivering engineering excellence.
As part of this continued commitment, we will voluntarily recall 25,928 vehicles fitted with a
7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) transmission (DQ200).
The recall will be conducted across Golf, Jetta, Polo, Passat and Caddy models produced between June 2008 and September 2011.
If your vehicle is affected, we will formally contact you in July to schedule an appointment for inspection and replacement of necessary parts. Replacement of the gearbox unit will be free of charge. Please be assured that you can continue to drive your vehicle as usual until the appointment.
This recall does not affect any Volkswagen vehicles currently being produced or sold.
If you have any questions, please call our dedicated Customer Care hotline 1800 504 076 (available Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm AEST) or visit your local Volkswagen dealer.
We thank you for your support.
Yours sincerely,
John White

I rang VW quoting my rego - my 09 non-DSG auto diesel has no campaign items. Spoke to a lovely Indian chap (is everything off-shored these days?)
I asked specifically about what injectors were affected, but they would not say/did not know
There's been a number of widespread non-safety faults handled by stonewalling - DPF pressure sensors, aux water pumps etc
I'd say marketing 101 classes across the country would be using VWA as a prime example of brand mismanagement.
